Invisible Victims Program

This suite of workshops assists carers and those who work with children to understand the impact of parental incarceration on children’s development and behaviour. The following workshops are offered:

  • The effect of the incarceration of family members on children
  • Caring for a child whose parent is incarcerated
  • Teaching a child whose parent is incarcerated
  • Assisting children of arrested parents

The aim of these training sessions is to:

  • Understand childhood trauma
  • Identify children’s behaviours and encourage them to discuss how they feel and act
  • Help children understand what parental incarceration means
  • Help develop safe ways for children to maintain a connection with an incarcerated parent
